Invitation from the WHC Host Committee

Dear colleagues and friends,

It gives us great pleasure to invite you, on behalf of the Dutch Host Committee, to the Tenth World Harp Congress 2008 in Amsterdam. It will be a Jubilee Congress, being the Tenth Congress in the city where its founder, our dear Dutch harpist Phia Berghout, used to live and work. We are proud to continue her legacy and enthusiasm for the harp. There will be concerts dedicated to Phia Berghout and her ‘soulmate’ Maria Korchinska. A special committee is busy making a DVD and booklet about these two wonderful harpists.

After receiving so many ideas and having ideas of our own, we are happy that we could make such a diverse programme with all your help. It includes harpists and music from all parts of the world, in many wonderful concerts, masterclasses, workshops and lectures.

We will introduce to you the Aurora concerts (09:05 – 09:25) and we do hope you’ll feel like an ‘early bird’ enjoying them.

Amsterdam is a wonderful city with a long, dynamic and magnificent history. Our beautiful main venue, where all will be happening, bonds elements of nature, music and history and so we do hope you’ll enjoy coming to this Tenth World Harp Congress\ as much as we enjoy organizing it.

WELKOM IN AMSTERDAM (Welcome to Amsterdam)
